There was a time in American History when a roof over one's head was of the utmost importance.

    In the 1890's gold was discovered in the Klondike and the rush was on to strike it rich.  Seattle and Tacoma became major hubs to the Yukon territory.  

     Living was tough in places like Dawson, Yellow Knife, Skagway and  such.

     These days about the only thing left  standing of some these gold fever ghost towns  are the log cabins.

    These cabins were made of old growth fir and cedar.   Thick log walls and a good stove were of the essence for the harsh winters of the north.
